Celebrating Tomato!!!

How do you like your tomato? Grilled, raw or cooked?

Tomatoes are awesome vegetables like that, so I am dedicating this month of February to eating tomatoes daily.

I have been eating it raw and spicing it up with some herbs, spices and other stuff.

The health benefits are quite many but I leave that to the nutritionists to analyse, a little bird just told me it helps men with their prostrate and subsequent performance when duty calls.😂🙈

Join me on this tomato journey in the month of February.

I haven’t blogged in a long while, well life happened to me, my beautiful wife, Dr (Mrs) Olubusayo Ibiyemi Kolawole passed away on the 6th of July 2016, it was such a great loss to me and the family, so that kept me away from blogging.

This post is dedicated to all cancer patients and victims all over the world, we love you and will always stand by you.

The health benefits of red rooibos tea are abundant. This form of tea has traditionally been popular due to its great taste and unique color, while also boosting the health of the body. Rooibos tea or red tea is a medicinal, herbal beverage that is acquired from the Aspalathus linearis bush plant that is found in South Africa.

I finally broke the 88kg ceiling !!!

I have been stuck on 88 kg for a long time now, at least for the past 6 months.

Each time I step on the weighing scale, I always come down disappointed as my body has refused to shed some extra kilos, despite my diet, exercise and discipline. I have not been to the gym in a while since I decided to make the best use of the summer sunshine.

So I had cause to go on a spiritual exercise for 3 days, fasting and praying and living on water and coconut water only, for a miracle which I have been looking up to God for.

The result was amazing as I stepped on the scale on the 1st of March, you can’t believe it, and I clocked 84 KG !!!!!.

I am still basking in the euphoria of this new found weight and I am motivated to maintain it and probably hit 80 Kg by the end of the year.

It isn’t easy tho as I have been craving sweet things since I ended my fat. I hope this won’t be short lived

Silverbeet & Kale Vegetable Stir Fry

Silvertbeet + Kale Vege 003

My love for Kale knows no bound. Lovers of my blog know I love kale, as I am either eating it in soups or stir fries or drinking it in my smoothies.

I decided to combine Kale with Silverbeet (Swiss chard), my new found love among vegetables. I love Silverbeet (Swiss chard) for its crunchiness and strength when cooked.

“Silverbeet, also known as Swiss chard, is part of the beet family, and its large bunches of bright-green, thick leaves are packed full of vitamins, fibre and goodness. In abundance now, silverbeet has a deep earthy flavour and a wonderful bitter sweetness.”

“Swiss chard offers dietary fiber, which helps to regulate blood sugar levels during the digestive process. It also contains a wealth of vitamins C, E, and K, beta-carotene, manganese, and antioxidants.”

Here is a step by step process of how i made my delicious Silverbeet & Kale Vegetable Mix.

First i added some olive oil into the cooking pot, which i allowed to heat for about 3 minutes and then added garlic;

Silvertbeet + Kale Vege 004

Then i added 2 diced onions and cooked for 2 – 3 minutes,

Silvertbeet + Kale Vege 005

Then i added my herbs, spices and salt.

Silvertbeet + Kale Vege 006

Next, i added my already boiled and lamb and cooked for 5 minutes, so the sauce can saturate the meat.

Silvertbeet + Kale Vege 007

Next i added the already washed and cut vegetables, covered the pot to simmer aand cook for 5 minutes.

Volla , your silverbeet & kale Vegetable mix is ready;

4 Vegetables That Will Change Your Health.

Many of us know that cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, or kale are excellent for our health. But did you know that peppery greens like arugula and watercress are also a part of the cruciferous family? Horseradish and wasabi, both pungent roots that pack powerful notes of spice and mustard, are cruciferous. While it makes sense that arugula, watercress, and horseradish are all related, few of us realize that they are actually a part of the cruciferous family, a family of vegetables that boasts excellent health properties!

Why do i blog? #Blogging101

So I signed up for blogging101 in order to hone my blogging skills and make my blogging education and experience a formal one.

Our first assignment is “who I am and why I’m here”.

Who I am?

I am David Oladapo Kolawole currently resident in Brisbane, Australia with varied interests in lifestyle, travel and photography.

I am a news junkie, so I love listening to and reading news both in electronic and print formats, so if I am with you and you see me flicking between CNN, BBC or Aljazeera news channels , just know I am ok and having fun.

I had this blog registered sometimes in 2011 and initially was just sharing news off news websites, then I lost my mojo and forgot all about it.

I was challenged by my doctor on a routine visit in December 2014 to do something about my health, so I don’t end up down below before time or in the hospital.

I took up the challenge and tried some forms of losing weight like exercises, meal replacements, dieting and along the way I discovered that I am all what I eat and drink and how I live my life , so I caught the healthy living bug and since then it has been a great journey of discoveries. It is my belief that sharing my experiences and recipes will encourage other people worldwide to do something about their lifestyle and take it back from the claws of death and diseases.

I must confess that I am not a good chef so once in a while I try out a few recipes but focus mostly in making dam good smoothies. I have tried so many fruits and vegetables available and that gives me the confidence that one day I will sell my smoothies to a large audience. Wish me luck

I also love travelling and love to document my experiences in photos. I have a Nikon D3200 camera which is quite basic and I have taken a lot of pictures with it that I feel the camera is afraid of going out with me now. I intend to do a series of photography courses with Nikon this year and get another camera so I can become a pro.

Why I am here.

I signed up for the ‘Bloggin101 course so I can gain more knowledge on how to blog properly since I started on my own without any formal training.

I hope to hook up with other bloggers all over the world to give my blog the right exposure and make new friends too.

Thanks to WordPress.com for providing such a great platform.

Cheers.
